Youth Group

The Sacred Heart Youth Group is for anyone in high school who is interested in growing in your faith, service work and volunteering in the community, and participating in social and community building activities.  The mission of the Sacred Heart Youth Ministry is to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today; to encourage young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community at Sacred Heart; and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

Past activities include:

Discussions on topics such as neighborhood violence, how the gospel is relevant to our present day lives, Pope Francis, relationships, depression, and social justice in both our local community and world-wide.  We have also had overnights at the aquarium at the Henry Doorly Zoo, a week-long mission trip to East St. Louis, volunteered at the Siena/Francis House and Heart Ministry Center, attended plays at the Omaha Community Playhouse, gone to Creighton basketball games, written letters and put together care packages to family members serving in the military overseas, sent care packages to siblings and former youth group members who are in college, went ice skating, visited the Joslyn museum, spent time on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge and in the Old Market, participated in team building exercises, joined the parish at Vala’s Pumpkin Patch, and many more activities.

If you are interested in joining this group, please contact Tim at tim@sacredheartchurchomaha.org or (402) 451-5755.
